Improved - USB-422 Low Latency Driver successfully installed on Catalina

usb422.jpg

After receiving several requests for information on using the USB-422 with Catalina it was time for me to install Catalina on my mac and test it.

Apple are the process of modifying their drivers, changing from “IOKit” to “DriverKit”, the new DriverKit based drivers should simplify generating new drivers, Catalina will support both, Big Sur when it arrives will only support DriverKit. Catalina is part of the transition and as expected causes problems.

The existing instructions were correct apart from two points

  1. The Apple driver has been updated to a driver based on DriverKit

  2. A new installer program must be used Kext droplet

  3. The “/” directory is read only and may have to be enabled for Read/Write to disable the Existing driver

I have now checked the revised information on Catalina 10.16.6 and the USB-422 is working correctly on my Mac

I have added a Catalina Page to the existing documentation with the extra commands and built a single zip file that includes the Driver, Documentation and test Programs.

The new version is available on the USB422 page https://www.cbelectronics.co.uk/usb422, and has been included in the new Downloads page.
